		<description>OUR BACKGROUND
 Inspired by Maya Angelou's poem, Still I Rise, Marz Lovejoy created the annual bike ride, celebrating Black Women, ...And Still We Ride... out of passion and love. ASWR started in 2020 in New York City as an act of resistance and power.&#38;nbsp;
Since its inception, ASWR has raised money for organizations centered on Black women and girl's health and LGBTQ+ youth, including The Lower Eastside Girls Club, Mama Glow, Black Women's Blueprint, Haus of Us, and Glits Inc.
By adding value to our commuity members, we’re addinng value to our ecosystems!

 In 2024, ASWR launched The ASWR Award Ceremony, highlighting the work of local (with some national and international) Black women, girls, and femmes, doing extraordinary work in their communities! The goal of this award is to recognize the community work of others and add value to their already critical work.&#38;nbsp;ASWR aims to make biking and wellness more fashionable and&#38;nbsp; accessible to our community.&#38;nbsp;In Winter of 2025, And Still We Ride became a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit!

OUR MISSIONAnd Still We Ride builds community currencies beyond money by bringing together biking, fashion, art, culture, birthwork, food justice, and shared resources to create spaces where people are supported, valued, and connected.

OUR VISION
A world where bikes connect communities, expand access, and create pathways to care, culture, nourishment, and collective wealth.

		<description>
Marz Lovejoy was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, raised in San Diego and Santa Monica, California and became the woman she is now after many years of grinding in New York. She currently lives between Minnesota and New York with her 3 children.
From professional modeling and acting, writing and producing music, and creating published works in the literary field, Marz continues to evolve in creativity while centering community and social responsibility. Some of her projects include: Her annual “…And Still We Ride…” bike ride out, celebrating Black women, the live streaming of her son's birth that raised awareness and funds for Black Maternal Health organizations and working as the curator-at-large for Alvaro Barrington’s studio where she brought community and ethics into a traditionally profit-over-people art world.
With a far reaching audience and a lens for equity, justice, and focus on Black plight, Marz continues to integrate biking, birthwork, and farming into the art &#38;amp; entertainment industry.&#38;nbsp;

MEET OUR BOARD!

Our pilot afterschool class, Grownish: And Still We Ride, was a powerful collaboration between the Lower Eastside Girls Club and ASWR led by Marz Lovejoy and Shyvonnne Sanganoo. It took students on a journey of culture, creativity, storytelling &#38;amp; life lessons through the art of biking. They learned to bike, gained safety skills, and reflected on their personal journey… Special thanks to our Community. Partners Ride Priority for their generous donation of bikes, and Bike Plant NYC for keeping us safe in their helmets, and the wonderful ASWR team &#38;amp; volunteers who joined us weekly!

On September 26th, 2021, Marz brought her ride out back to the streets of NYC! This time she partnered with Awake New York to create a limited custom tee, VanMoof Bikes, and Black-owned bike shop, Dah Shop. She raised $7k for Black Women's Blue Print and Dah Shop, and was able to supply the riders with food, snacks, and drinks. Approximately 350 people showed up, including SZA, Sage Adams, and Matthew Mazur.

On September 26th, 2020, Marz organized a community ride out in NYC to celebrate Black women. In conjunction with Nike Women, she raised $5k for organizations led by or centered around Black women and femmes. Supporting Black women and healthy living are both important to Marz. With approximately 400 people in attendance and 30 miles biked, her 1st ride out was more successful and meaningful than she could have ever imagined!
